Japanese department store group Isetan is considering a presence in London, as the group readies the launch of a concept store in Paris this autumn.
Isetan chief executive Onishi Hiroshi said he aims to have a presence in Paris, London and New York but that property prices are making London and New York “rather unaffordable” at the moment, according to FashionMag.
The group is set to open a concept store on the ground floor of the Japan Culture House in Paris, to showcase Japanese products under its Mitskoshi fascia, the publication reported.
In the year ended March 2015, the Isetan group reported sales of JPY 1.2 trillion (€7.4bn).
Isetan has stores in Japan and East Asia including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and China.
