Italian labels to hit UK

New London fashion agent Molineux has opened a showroom in Islington, north London, to exhibit lifestyle collections from Italian brands Peuterey and Dekker.

The agency is run by father and son Keith and Tim Horsley, who were previously UK agents for Italian tailoring brand Canali. Molineux’s other brands include Dekker’s womenswear range Dek-Her, which will also be available to view in the showroom, and premium tailoring brand Scuderi.

Although owned by outerwear specialist Geospirit, both Peuterey and Dekker produce complete lifestyle collections for men and women, both of which will be exhibited at Molineux’s showroom, which opened this week.

Tim Horsley said the strategy would be to target department stores and key independent retailers. He said: “The brands have the potential to reach 250 doors in the UK.”

Priced from £30 to £200, Peuterey’s collection includes tailored separates and wool
and cashmere fine-gauge knits, and the brand has also launched a collaboration with luggage label Piquadro.

The Dekker range is more rugged with washed-down leathers, wool naval coats and military detailing. Prices start at £20 and go up to £150.

Each brand’s collection is made up of more than 250 pieces. As part of the Geospirit group both are already distributed across Europe and in Japan. According to a survey by business consultancy Pambianco Strategie di Impresa, the group was Italy’s fastest-growing fashion supplier between 2002 and 2007. The Geospirit group is also set to enter the US for autumn 09.

Prices for tailoring brand Scuderi range from £204 to £325 for the bulk of its collection, with Super 200s at a higher price level. Horsley added that Scuderi had a 12-working day turnaround on its made-to-measure range.

The company has only produced its own-label ready-to-wear collection for the past five years, but the brand has a long history; it was founded in 1954 and has supplied suiting to brands and luxury retailers for private-label collections.

Scuderi’s collection is made up of about 40 pieces and is shown in a separate showroom a few doors down from the main showroom.
