A new six-part ITV drama series will launch next year focused on the early days of the Ann Summers Party Plan.
Brief Encounters is set in the early 1980s and tells the story of four fictional female characters whose lives change as they embark on careers as Ann Summers ambassadors.
The home shopping party plan was established by Jacqueline Gold, chief executive of Ann Summers, in 1980. It offered women the opportunity to run their own businesses selling lingerie and sex toys.
The series is due to air on ITV in summer 2016 and will be produced by CPL Productions.
“The start of Ann Summers Party Plan was one of the most exciting times of my career and I have many fond memories of the women who started on this journey with me,” said Gold. “In the early 1980s, these women were trail blazers and helped to create the opportunity for so many more women to run their own business.
“Since launching Party Plan, the model has given financial independence to in excess of 350,000 women, something I’m incredibly proud of.”
