J Brand founder Jeff Rudes leaves

J Brand founder Jeff Rudes is leaving 18 months after Japanese group Fast Retailing took an 80% stake in the premium denim label.

Andrew Rosen is stepping in as interim chief executive. Rosen is also chief executive of Helmut Lang and Theory, which are owned by Fast Retailing.

Tadashi Yanai, chief executive of Fast Retailing, which also owns Uniqlo, said in a statement: “We are grateful for Jeff’s pioneering vision and spirit. He has assembled a stellar team of executives who will successfully advance the mission of making J Brand a global leader in premium denim.”

Rudes co-founded the LA-based label in 2004.
