US-based casualwear brand J Crew has set its sights on international expansion with the news that it is considering stores in the UK with up to nine units over the next few years.
According to reports the brand, which doesn’t operate any stores outside the US at the moment, will roll-out an international version of its website to include the UK and Ireland in the autumn.The brand already ships to online customers in Canada and Japan.
The brand is also said to be considering stores in Paris.
The first J Crew store in Canada is set to open on August 18 in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, and ultimately a fleet of 25 to 30 units is anticipated in Canada.
In March, TPG Capital and Leonard Green & Partners took J Crew private in a deal valued at $3bn (£1.83bn). However, J Crew has said that the decision to accelerate overseas expansion is independent of the ownership change.
