J Crew preparing to open second London store

US retailer J Crew is readying a second London store to launch this autumn.

It is thought the menswear-only store, at 38 Lamb’s Conduit Street in Bloomsbury, London, will launch around the same time as the retailer’s UK flagship in November. Back in May, Drapers reported that the brand was looking for a further four stores, including a menswear-only branch.

A third store has been earmarked for the capital at a yet unknown location.

Last year it emerged J Crew had signed for its first UK store in the 17,000 sq ft shop formerly occupied by Burberry on Regent Street.

The shop, the brand’s first outside of North America, will have separate entrances for womenswear and menswear, and will also stock Crewcuts, its kidswear range.

Speaking about the UK launch J Crew chairman and chief executive Millard Drexler said: “London was an easy decision - it’s a place where people understand and respect the integrity of great style and great design.

“We share this appreciation and are excited to introduce J Crew to more customers throughout the UK.”
