US-based casualwear brand J Crew is set to roll out stores in the UK with plans to open shops in London in the next couple of years.
According to the Telegraph, J Crew executive creative director Jenna Lyons told the audience at its new season presentation that the brand was looking at spaces on Regent Street. She said, “I wouldn’t mind being in Covent Garden for a smaller store. It won’t be just one store - we’re not gonna be stingy.”
She added: “We have a huge British following already - our New York stores get a lot of customers, and what we do is not very well represented in the British market. There are very classic clothes, but they’re high end. And women’s especially, there isn’t that classic tailoring but with a twist, and also colour, which we do. So from what I’ve been told we might be hopefully filling a niche.”
Last year the brand said it was considering international expansion and was looking at the UK and France for possible sites. J Crew also launched a UK version of its website in the latter part of last year.
