Jagtiani fuels Debenhams speculation

Speculation over a bid for department store business Debenhams has increased, after Landmark group chairman Micky Jagtiani denied press reports he had ruled out an offer.

A statement from Jagtiani's investment vehicle Milestone Resources, which has built up a stake of more than 9% in Debenhams in recent weeks, said:

"Milestone wishes to emphasise that it took an opportunity to acquire a significant holding in Debenhams at an attractive price but has made no firm decision relating to its longer term strategy. Consequently, no particular course of action has been determined, equally nothing has been ruled out."
