JD poaches M&S buyer

Sportswear chain JD has promoted Sherilyn Paterson to merchandising director and poached a buyer from Marks & Spencer to fill her vacated role.

Paterson was previously head of merchandise for footwear. In her place the retailer has hired Luke Banks, previously head of buying and merchandising for Marks & Spencer Reliance India, a joint venture between the UK business and local partner Reliance Retail.

Banks, who has worked at M&S since 2007 in a range of roles including sub-brand Per Una’s merchandise manager and head of international, will join JD in March.

It is understood his appointment is part of wider plans by JD to grow the business internationally.

Paterson’s other previous roles include head of merchandising at footwear retailer Kurt Geiger and head of merchandising for Topshop.
