JD sees trading improve

The John David Group said that like-for-like sales at both its sports and fashion divisions had marginally improved in the seven weeks since May 31.

In April, the John David Group reported group like-for-like sales up 4.2% for the 53 weeks ended February 2, which equated to a 4% rise at its sports fascias which includes JD, and a 4.9% like for like hike at its fashion fascias, which includes the Scotts chain.

However the John David Group warned that while gross margins had been maintained, further increases were proving to be challenging to achieve.
