JD Sports Fashion has said full-year profits should be in line with City forecasts after an increase in like-for-like sales during the crucial Christmas trading period.
The owner of fascias including Bnak, Scotts and Size? said like-for-like sales for the group’s core fascia stores for the end of the 48 weeks to 4 January 2014 were now marginally ahead of its half-year results, which saw like-for-like sales rise 5.8%.
The company expects to deliver headline profit before tax and exceptional items in line with current market expectations.
JD Sports Fashion executive chairman Peter Cowgill said: “Christmas 2013 has seen yet another very robust performance from our core sports fascias. Throughoutrecent years of considerable change and expansion for the group, the core sports fascias’ proposition has continued to be developed and enhanced. I am delighted that the most recent six weeks’ trading has continued to give confidence for the future. I also expect considerable further progress elsewhere in the group in 2014.”
