Sales at JD Sports Fashion have been enhanced by the build-up to the World Cup, with sportswear leading the way.
In an interim management statement released today (June 17), the business said it was “pleased with underlying performance”. However, it declined to give like-for-like figures, saying they would be “misleading” because of the strong performance of the sportswear fascias, which include JD and Size?, in the run-up to the football tournament.
Its outdoor business, which includes Blacks and Millets, is maintaining “positive progress” against weak comparatives in 2013.
The struggling fashion arm, including the Bank and Scotts chains, continues its “varied performance” but with “encouraging signs” for the future.
Interim results for the six months to August 2 will be published on September 17.
