JD Sports to relocate multichannel content team

JD Sports Fashion has signed a £2m deal to relocate its multichannel content and production team to The Sharp Project in Manchester.

The retailer has taken 10,400 sq ft of space at the digital content production complex as a base for 58 staff, including photographers and designers. The team will move out of its Pilsworth headquarters in Greater Manchester in September.

Marketing content for JD, Size?, Bank, Scotts, Tessuti, Blacks, Millets, Ultimate Outdoors and Foot Patrol will be produced at the new site.

Peter Cowgill, executive chairman of JD Sports Fashion, said multichannel was a “significant growth area” for the company and a “strategic priority”.

“Taking this facility at The Sharp Project means we can facilitate our rapid growth and future demands while still keeping it local,” he explained. “We are combining all of our content, photography, design and production into a single multichannel team. It will help us keep ahead of the competition.”

The Sharp Project, a £16.5m development owned by Manchester City Council, is occupied by more than 50 individuals and production companies specialising in digital content production, digital media and TV and film production.
