Like-for-like sales across JD Sports Fashion’s fashion fascias struggled in the third quarter, falling 6.6%.
JD’s like-for-like sales rose 1.5% in the 16 weeks to November 17, with sales across its sports fascias including JD, Size?, Chausport, Sprinter and Champion Sports rising 3.5%.
However sales across its fashion stores including Banks, Scotts and Cecil Gee dropped 6.6%, with JD saying the trading environment remains “tough”.
In an interim management statement JD said: “The result for the full year remains, as usual, substantially dependent on the performance through the Christmas period and particularly in the last two weeks of December.”
However JD said it remains on course to deliver earnings in line with expectations.
As reported in September, group likes-for-likes rose in the 26 weeks to July 28 by 1.1%, driven by a 1.2% uplift at sports stores and a 0.7% increase at the fashion fascias.
