Designer Jean Paul Gaultier has designed a collection for premium Italian lingerie retailer La Perla.
The collection, which will launch in November, will be the first official lingerie line for Gaultier, who is famed for designing Madonna’s conical bra and often uses corsetry styling in his dresses.
The capsule collection features 27 pieces, many of which are handmade. It includes a corset, extra-high-rise briefs and bras that draw from his famous cone style.
It will retail for €500 (£406) to €1,000 (£812) and will be sold in selected La Perla stores, as well as high-end department stores such as Neiman Marcus and Galeries Lafayette
Gaultier will launch the collaboration at his couture show on July 7 by showing two of the most elaborate, limited edition pieces on the Paris catwalk.
It is understood that the partnership is a two-year deal and that a collection of beachwear is due to be launched in March.
La Perla chief executive Alain Prost said “Ccooperating with Jean Paul Gaultier filled us with satisfaction from the very start…I believe that we will be even more satisfied once the collection is available on the international market, as it is an explosive concentrate of luxury and femininity that is highly desirable.”
