Jena.Theo wins Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden

Design duo Jena.Theo has won Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden.

Designers Jenny Holmes, from Buckinghamshire, and Dimitris Theocharidis, from Salonika in Greece, were picked to win the scheme - which was set up to nurture emerging design talent in the UK - by a judging panel chaired by Donatella Versace.

The pair were awarded £100,000 in support, a slot at London Fashion Week in February and September 2010, and exhibition space at Rendez-Vous Paris in October.

The collection features feminine Grecian-inspired pieces in draping silk, jersey and linen with an urban twist, including dresses with pin-tuck detail and urban cutaway vests layered over harem pants.

Holmes said: “I am feeling stunned and elated and privileged as all of the designers on this year’s platform so deserved to win. Having the support of everybody at Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden means we can make our dreams happen.”

Theocharidis added: ‘We feel really secure having the Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden support to help us make our next collection.”

This year’s four finalists were selected by a judging panel in May and showcased their collections today at The Flower Cellars Covent Garden, as part of London Fashion Week.

Other finalists were: Yelena Smirnova, Elliot Atkinson and Lidija&Dejan.
