Jimmy Choo non-exec Elisabeth Murdoch scoops up shares

Jimmy Choo non-executive director Elisabeth Murdoch, the founder of TV production company Shine, has snapped up £34,000 worth of shares in the luxury footwear brand.

Murdoch, daughter of media mogul Rupert, bought 31,317 shares on Friday at an average price of 108.517p.

Elisabeth Murdoch joined the board of Jimmy Choo in November.

A source close to the situation said it was the first time Murdoch had been able to buy shares in the company following a closed period.

Last month, the footwear brand reported a strong first half to the year. It revealed that it had ”made a good start to the year” and trading was in line with expectations.

The company said its growth strategy, which has seen it expand to more than 140 stores since it was founded in 1996, remained on track, including in Asia. This is despite “headwinds facing the majority of the sector in 2016”, it added.

“Brand awareness continues to grow strongly, particularly in China, where the brand remains under-penetrated,” Jimmy Choo said.
