Sportswear retailer JJB Sports will roll out its new storefit after strong like-for-like sales increases at refurbished units.
The company said it expected its trading position to strengthen as a result, but added that it was cautious about the rest of the year because of the difficult trading climate.
Like-for-like sales fell 1.2% for the 12 weeks ended July 20. The figure was made up of a 2% fall at its retail stores and a 5.9% rise in sales at its health clubs.
JJB Sports non-executive chairman Roger Lane Smith said the company was taking the right decisions to get through “a very challenging second half to the year”.
In a statement, JJB said its trading position would continue to strengthen as the refurbishment programme is rolled out.
