Ahead of the opening of its debut store in Sheffield’s Meadowhall shopping centre, ecommerce and mail order retailer Joe Browns, has expressed its confidence, despite a “struggling” market.

Simon Brown, MD and founder, said that in the face of turbulent markets and the rise of online, he still saw opportunities for the high street: “Despite online retail booming and many high streets unfortunately struggling, the time is right for us now to take this new opportunity. We believe the brand will bring a point of difference to the UK high street for free-thinking, spontaneous individuals who want their fashion choices to match their lust for life.”

The 4,000 sq ft store is set to open on 2 November, and has been designed by London agency Dalziel & Pow. The opening coincides with a £60m redevelopment of Meadowhall as a whole.

Earlier this year the etailer announced it was doubling the capacity of its warehouse in preparation for the first store opening.
