Joe Browns readies further expansion

Leeds-based multichannel retailer Joe Browns is gearing up for significant expansion, as it recruits for senior roles and expands its warehouse capacity.

The company has appointed Fiona Brown, former global digital marketing manager at GHD, as its head of ecommerce. She will join in October. Andrew Thomson, who was previously brand director EMEA at Original Penguin, joined as head of wholesale in July. It has also recently appointed a senior analyst, designer, womenswear buyer and retail floor manager.

Joe Browns has applied for planning permission for a second time to double its warehouse capacity to accommodate expansion and increased demand.  It recorded a 12% increase in turnover for the 12 months to 30 June, driven by a 40% increase in wholesale sales, and has reported a 25% year-on-year increase in sales in the first two months of its 2018/19 financial year.

Joe Browns opened its first retail store in Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield last November.
