John Galliano to lead Maison Martin Margiela

John Galliano will take over the creative direction of Paris fashion house Maison Martin Margiela, confirming widespread industry speculation.

The designer will lead all Margiela lines, including couture and both women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections, the company has told WWD. He is expected to showcase his first designs in January during Paris Couture Week.

Galliano was removed from his position at Dior and as the head of his own label in 2011 after he was arrested for, and found guilty of, making anti-Semitic remarks.
