John Lewis bucks Easter misery

John Lewis scored Easter sales 7% ahead of last year, shaking off last weekend's collapse in footfall amidst the unseasonal weather.

Good Friday sales were ahead 29% against Good friday last year while Easter Saturday was up 17% and Easter Monday sales rocketed 33%

All branches scored an uplift against last Easter but the biggest winners were shopping centre branches with Cribbs Causeway in the lead at plus 11%. Bluewater and Southampton saw increased of in excess of 40% on Good Friday.

Men's brands was the leading category with sales up 37% over the holiday weekend. Fashion as a whole was ahead 10.1%.
