Fashion sales at John Lewis were down 1.8% last week compared to the same period last year.
Despite this, the retailer said its autumn ranges performed well, with own-brand label Modern Rarity a standout for the period.
Total sales at the department store group were £86.3m, down 1.9% on last year, though the festive season appears promising as John Lewis says its newly-opened Christmas Villages performed strongly, and Halloween products were up 24% on last year.
