Fashion sales at John Lewis have climbed 1.5% for the week to 24 June compared to the same period in 2016, according to the department store chain’s latest weekly sales figures.
Swimwear and nightwear sales soared by 26.5% during the week, as customers prepared for the summer holidays. Men’s and women’s casualwear also saw double digit growth.
However, total sales for the week for the department store dipped to £96.2m, slightly down by 0.5% compared with the same period last year. John Lewis said the later fall of clearance this year caused the shift in sales.
