John Lewis fashion sales fall 4.5%

Fashion sales at John Lewis dropped 4.5% year on year for the week to 2 June, with total sales for the week up just 0.1%, hampered by a particularly warm bank holiday weekend.

Despite the fall in fashion sales, own brand womenswear had a good week with Kin by John Lewis a standout performer, seeing sales rocket 82% for the week.

The retailer also had its biggest ever week for lingerie, driven by price matching through the Never Knowingly Undersold policy.
