John Lewis fashion sales increase 7.7%

John Lewis has reported that sales increased 4.5% year on year to £68.2m for the week ending February 7, driven by fashion sales online.

Snow caused minor disruptions to trade in some shops but the retailer reported online sales were up by 18.6%, with traffic up 22% on the same week last year.

Fashion sales increased by 7.7%, with the biggest increases coming from the childrenswear sector.

The Ipswich, Swindon and Ashford stores achieved double-figure increases, while the big stores in Cardiff, Westfield Stratford City and Leicester were highlighted for their performance too.
