John Lewis fashion sales rise

Fashion sales at John Lewis rose by 4.3% for the week to 18 August, the retailer’s latest figures show.

Womenswear sales were up 6.3%. Sales of menswear were up 5.7% and childrenswear, nursery and haberdashery rose by 7.5%.

The latest rise came on the back of an 0.7% increase in fashion sales for the previous week.

Total sales at John Lewis were up 3.9% year on year for the week, and cooler weather was noted as one factor that led to customers buying new-season items.
