John Lewis fashion sales slump

Like-for-like fashion sales at John Lewis & Partners slipped 2.1% in the week to 2 February. 

Women’s accessories sales were up 11.1%, as “customers bought items to keep warm”.

Sales of boots rose by 100%, while own brand womenswear sales were up again on last year.

Total sales at John Lewis for the week were down 4.4% on the same week last year, which the retailer attributed to the snowy weather.
