John Lewis has posted double-digit weekly sales growth year on year for both its menswear and womenswear categories, driven by lifestyle retailer Boden’s womenswear launch.
Fashion sales were up 9.8% for the week to 9 September. Womenswear sales climbed 16.4% compared with the same week last year, while menswear rose by 15.4%.
The department store attributed the uplift to new product and brand launches including Boden’s womenswear line, which is being sold online and in two shops; luxury Scottish brand Brora, which has launched at three stores; and its Modern Rarity Eudon Choi coat collaboration.
Total sales for the week were up 3.5%, at £85.6m.
