Fashion sales at John Lewis jumped 10% for the week to June 20 as the department store chain put in its best performance of the year so far.
Overall sales at John Lewis were up 2.2% to £46.4 million as Father’s Day helped boost trade.
Sales in the menswear category jumped a huge 19% on the year as a result.
Nat Wakely, director of sales operations region A, said: “In terms of merchandise split, fashions had their best week of the half to date. Men’s brands did particularly well, boosted by purchasing for lucky dads, while both sports footwear and equipment excelled.”
John Lewis at Manchester’s Trafford Centre was the strongest performer in the 27-store portfoilo over the week with sales up 16.9%.
John Lewis’ Clearance Sale starts on Saturday June 27.
