John Lewis fashion weekly sales fell 2.3% for the week to January 30, the last in the chain’s financial year.
Total sales were £69.97m, up 0.6% on last year, while for the second half of the year sales were up by 4.8% on the 2014 fiscal year.
Online sales for the week were up by 6.4% on the previous year.
“Sales at our shops were down overall, but our Heathrow, York and Exeter branches delivered particularly positive increases versus last year,” said director of retail services Barry Matheson.
“Fashion sales were down 2.3%, but beauty/wellbeing and leisure was the standout, perhaps indicating that our customers have been inspired by our Re:new_all campaign.”
