John Lewis finance boss favourite for chair

Finance director at John Lewis, Patrick Lewis, who is the great-grandson of the department store’s founder, is reportedly among the favourites to become the next chairman of the business.

Lewis has worked at the retailer for 25 years and has been tipped to succeed current chairman, Sir Charlie Mayfield, when he steps down next year, The Guardian reports.

External candidates mooted for the role include ex-CEO of WH Smith Kate Swann and Direct Line CEO Paul Geddes.
