Department store group John Lewis is understood be in talks to open its first store in Ireland.

The retailer is believed to be in discussions with developer O’Reilly’s to open a shop in its 1.2 billion Euro (£950 million) Dublin city centre scheme. The location is thought to be a former Carlton cinema site, around 250,000 sq ft. The deal is expected to be confirmed next month.

John Lewis is continuing its rapid growth programme, with plans to grow its store portfolio from 26 to more than 50.
