John Lewis men’s formalwear buyer to depart

John Lewis men’s formalwear buyer Tom Saunders is leaving the business after almost nine years.

Saunders, who was named one of Drapers’ 30 under 30 retail stars of the future this year, joined John Lewis as buying assistant in July 2006.

He moved up to assistant buyer for men’s formalwear in March 2010 and took over as buyer for branded and own label men’s formalwear in February 2013. His next steps are not known.

The date of his departure has not yet been confirmed, nor has a replacement been found.

A spokeswoman for John Lewis said: “Tom has played a particularly important role in delivering a leading proposition in men’s formalwear. We wish him the very best of luck for the future.”
