Menswear sales at John Lewis grew 6.2% in the week to 24 March compared to the same period last year.
Men’s swimwear was highlighted as a standout performer after rising 11%.
However, the menswear rise failed to offset a 1.8% drop in the retailer’s total fashion sales, which dipped as Mother’s Day took place later last year (26 March 2017).
Beauty sales dropped by 11%. Total sales across the department store were up 2.2% on the same period last year.
