John Lewis starts hiring in Birmingham

John Lewis is looking for 500 store assistants as the launch of its new regional flagship in Birmingham nears.

The £35m 250,000 sq ft Birmingham store is set to open in September, anchoring the new £150m Grand Central retail development. It is one of John Lewis’s largest stores out of London and its first full-line store to open in four years.

John Lewis has already started recruiting for 150 roles for the stores, which include visual merchandising, business protection, administration and maintenance.

The retailer is also looking to add 200 new warehouse roles at its distribution centre in Magna Park in Milton Keynes over the course of the next year.

John Lewis currently has two distribution centres at the site and recently announced it will open a third next year.
