John Lewis to grow British manufacturing by 15% by 2015

John Lewis is looking to increase sales of UK manufactured goods by 15% in the next two years.

Currently 10,500 products feature John Lewis’s ‘Made in UK’ identifier, a small union flag symbol that highlights products made by British suppliers.

Last year, the department store saw a 9% increase in sales of British-made products, totalling £480m. The retailer also increased its number of UK suppliers from 132 in 2012 to 207 this year.

The new target follows a move two years ago to push domestically-produced items.
