John Lewis unveils plans for major revamp

John Lewis has unveiled plans for a massive overhaul of its stores as it fights falling sales and dwindling profits.

It is due to test ideas in 15 of its existing shops this September, where it will experiment with events, classes, personal stylists and front-of-house concierge services, according to This is Money.

The department store chain renovations are also set to include open rooftop bars and pop-up cinemas, and tie-in with the launch of its biggest ever own-label womenswear line.

The refurbishment plans were announced by parent company John Lewis Partnership, which warned that its half-year profits before exceptional items will be “close to zero” this year, and predicted full-year profits will be “substantially lower” than last year.

  • Is this really a massive overhaul? It sounds like they are going to refurbish some of their stores. Going the same way as HoF and Debs.
