John Lewis unveils top 10 products for this autumn

John Lewis has unveiled the 10 hero items it predicts will “define” the autumn 16 season, including an over-the-knee boot for women and velvet tux for men.

John Lewis top 10

Customers will buy more premium fashion this autumn, the department store group predicts. It has based this on a rise in sales of premium items such as the John Lewis Kin dinner suit (up 100% year on year) and cashmere clothing in general (up 33%).

In its top 10 list, which also includes homewares and electricals, the fashion items are:

  • A pair of Somerset by Alice Temperley over-the-knee boots in a berry shade (£170)
  • A John Lewis in-house velvet tux (£175)
  • A made in Italy wool coatigan in white, smokey grey or cornflower blue (£100)

Paula Nickolds, commercial director at John Lewis, said: “We are increasingly seeing our customer choosing to invest in statement pieces for their wardrobes and home, and expect to see this continue into autumn/winter. Shoppers are becoming more and more discerning, opting for beautifully designed items that will make a lasting impact.

“Our Top 10 showcases the best examples of the type of product that we predict shoppers will be looking to purchase next season.”
