John Lewis voted best clothing retailer at Verdict awards

John Lewis was named the UK’s best clothing retailer at Verdict Retail’s 2016 Customer Satisfaction Awards last night, pipping Asos and Adidas to the post.

The gong for best footwear retailer went to Clarks, with Adidas and Marks & Spencer the runners up.

Best retailer overall was electricals firm John Lewis came second, followed by Apple in third place. was voted the best online retailer, pipping fellow Shop Direct brand Littlewoods and Marks & Spencer to the post.

Best online experience went to Asos, best online fulfilment to and best click-and-collect retailer to John Lewis.

John Lewis was the evening’s big winner, gaining six awards across categories including best in-store experience.

Maureen Hinton, global research director at Verdict Retail, said: “While AO takes home the big award of the night, John Lewis walks away with six awards reflecting the intense competition in the retail sector. What these retailers have in common is a powerful determination to get the rules of retail right and deliver for customers.”

She added: “These awards are awarded by shoppers, not the industry, which makes the recognition far more valuable for all the award winners.”

The awards were held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington London.
