Menswear sales at John Lewis were up 8.8% for the week ended March 19, compared to the same period last year. They outperformed fashion as a whole, sales of which rose by 5.3%.
The department store said total sales for the week were £75m, up 8.7% on the same week in 2015.
“Last week saw an increase in sales of in warm weather clothing, as the first hints of warmer weather turns customers’ minds to spring,” said Mark Felix, director of online trade at John Lewis.
“With the Easter holidays now upon us, and customers preparing to mark the occasion, we are looking ahead to a busy week in both our shops and online.”
