John Lewis's debut airport store to open on June 4

John Lewis will open its first airport shop in Heathrow’s Terminal 2 tomorrow morning.

The 3,600 sq ft shop – the largest space Heathrow has allocated to a fashion-led retailer – is on the top floor of the departure lounge. It will be John Lewis’ 42nd store.

Own-brand ranges including Weekend will be showcased alongside designer brands such as Hackett and Barbour. Exclusive items will also be available.

Paula Nickolds, buying and brand director at John Lewis, said: “This is a significant step forward in developing our international strategy. Terminal 2 serves 20 million passengers each year and will offer us access to one of the most valuable markets in the world.

“We hope to reach a wider set of customers, building awareness and credibility as a worldwide brand.”

John Lewis delivers to 33 countries outside the UK and Ireland.

The launch comes ahead of a ‘click-and-commute’ store in London’s St Pancras station, which opens in October. If successful, this format could be rolled out further.
