John Smedley managing director dies

Drew Walker, managing director of knitwear business John Smedley, has died.

Walker joined the business in 1994 and became managing director in 2003. He died in his sleep on December 22 and his funeral took place yesterday. A collection was made for the Treetops Hospice and Cancer Research.

Chairman Tony Langford said: "He will be greatly missed by all his colleagues, customers and friends although I am sure he would have been heartened by the success the company enjoyed with record sales in 2007."
