John Smedley promotes head of merchandising and bolsters board

Premium brand John Smedley has promoted Jess McGuire-Dudley to marketing and design director and added her and operations director Mick O’Hanlon to its board.

McGuire-Dudley joined John Smedley in March 2014 as head of marketing and merchandising. She was previously brand marketing manager for Triumph International from 2012 to 2014.

She will now be in charge of promoting John Smedley’s Made in Britain message, overseeing the heritage retailer’s creative design, marketing, merchandising and PR and working alongside trade and fashion show organisers and the media to attract new buyers.

O’Hanlon is responsible for driving garment quality and factory efficiency standards at John Smedley’s Derbyshire and Doncaster-based yarn and finished goods warehouses.

The board appointments follow the opening of John Smedley’s second store on Jermyn Street in London last month.

John Smedley has 200 stockists in the UK and 500 in total.
