Johnstons of Elgin confirms London flagship plans

Scottish cashmere and woollen manufacturer Johnstons of Elgin has confirmed it will open a London flagship store and showroom at 77 New Bond Street this December.

Set over five floors, the 2,480 sq ft unit will house retail space on the basement and ground levels, while the wholesale and showroom area will be on the upper levels. It was designed by Checkland Kindleysides.

As previously reported by Drapers, it will be in the former Byford unit, adjacent to premium menswear brand Ermenegildo Zegna and opposite Swiss fashion and sportswear brand Victorinox.

Johnstons already has three stores, two based at its mills in Elgin and Hawick and one in St Andrews. This will be its first outside of Scotland.

Chief executive Simon Cotton said: “Determined customers have had to travel hundreds or even thousands of miles to see our full collections at our two mills in Scotland. I am delighted that we are finally able to present to London a selection of some of the beautiful product which our craftsmen and women have been perfecting for the last 218 years.”
