Drapers is backing a campaign by the British Clothing Industry Association (BCIA) which will demand the government helps to insure domestic orders.
Drapers is calling for as many suppliers, manufacturers, fashion brands and retailers to sign up to support the BCIA campaign, which will tell the government it has a duty to channel some of the cash set aside to support the UK’s financial institutions into insuring orders from UK retailers.
The BCIA will argue that the government already insures some UK exporters against non-payment by their overseas buyers via its Export Credit Guarantee Department, and that the remit of the department should be widened to include domestic orders and broader industries.
The BCIA needs as many examples as possible from companies that have had their businesses negatively impacted by the withdrawal of credit insurance in recent months.
Please “Link In” with our campaign via our new group forum on business networking site LinkedIn. Sign up to LinkedIn and search for Drapers Wholesale Forum within groups or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on how to join our forum.
