JoJo Maman Bébé grows profits

JoJo Maman Bébé has posted a 17.5% rise in revenue to £67.6m and a 17.6% increase in like-for-like sales for the year to 30 June 2018.

The maternity and childenswear retailer, which is favoured by the Duchess of Cambridge, also grew pre-tax profits by 10.2% to £4.3m, up from £3.9m the previous year.

Online sales were particularly strong, rising 29% to £24.7m. Online sales represent a 36.6% of total revenue, compared with 33.3% last year.

Retail store sales increased by 11.9% to £4.2m during the year, aided by the store expansion. It opened seven new stores in the year.

As well as growing its UK estate – Jojo Maman Bébé now has 93 stores in the UK and Ireland. It has four US stores in total. Founder Laura Tenison said bricks-and-mortar retail will remain an important part of the business.

One of the few specialist retailers to make it into last year’s Drapers Power 100, in November, Jojo Maman Bébé won the Drapers Award for Fashion Retail Business of the Year (£30m-£100m turnover). Judges said it was an “impressive business on so many fronts”, and puts its customers and at the heart of everything it does.
