Jonathan Saunders defects to New York Fashion Week

London Fashion Week stalwart Jonathan Saunders will leave the capital's catwalks to raise his profile in New York next season.

Saunders joins a selection of other London designers such as Matthew Williamson, Preen and Alice Temperley who have all left London in favour of New York to help build their international businesses.

Saunders, who is known for his colourful, geometric prints on silk gowns, has shown at LFW since February 2003.

A spokeswoman for Saunders confirmed the business will continue to be based in London, but said that Saunders plans to exhibit his designs in New York for the foreseeable future.
