Jonathan Saunders has stepped down as creative director of his eponymous label for personal reasons and the brand will close when spring 16 orders have been fulfilled.
Saunders reached the decision with his business partner Eiesha Bharti Pasricha, the daughter of Indian tycoon Sunil Bharti Mittal, who invested in the business in January.
Pasricha also backed designer label Roksanda Ilinic as a minority investor last year, to support the brand’s global plans and the opening of a 2,500 sq ft store on London’s Mount Street.
“It is not a decision that I take lightly and I am eternally grateful to my team for all their hard work and dedication,” he said. “Eiesha has not only been a fantastic partner over the last year but an incredible support and we remain close.
“I am very thankful for all the friends I have across the industry and I look forward to working with everyone again soon on future creative projects.”
Pasricha added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting one of the most talented British designers of our times. Our decision to part ways was not easy and I wish Jonathan every success for the future.”
In July, Rupert Maunsell became the brand’s first chief executive, with a remit including leading a series of key hires across the business to push the strategic growth of the womenswear and menswear brand.
Maunsell was previously operations director at luxury womenswear brand Mary Katrantzou from October 2013 and operations director at luxury etailer Avenue 32 from September 2011 to September 2013.
