Joseph hires chief executive from Furla

Designer retailer Joseph has hired a new chief executive to drive the international expansion and development of the business.

Sara Ferrero has joined the business from Italian designer accessories firm Furla where she led the turnaround the brand, more than doubling sales to Euro 150 million (£117m).

Joseph said in a statement: "The appointment of Sara Ferrero will strongly reinforce and complement the current senior management team, bringing new skills and experience that will help drive and consolidate the brand's expansion programme."

The statement added: "Sara's knowledge of the accessories business and proven track record in growing businesses comes at a time when the Joseph Group is moving into an important phase of its development."

Ferrero added: "I am incredibly excited to have been given this opportunity, I have admired Joseph since the early 1990's, when I lived in London. I really believe that Joseph has a fantastic potential; it has a unique mix of brand equity, positioning and retail structure, all the most important ingredients to continue building a real success in the future."

Joseph Group has a turnover of £64 million with 44 stores across the UK, France and the USA.

Prior to her role at Furla, Ferrero worked at management consultancy McKinsey for six years.
